The History of Blue Tea

The origin of butterfly pea tea dates back to the 16th century, when it was first discovered by a group of Buddhist monks in Thailand. They were traveling through the jungle and found these beautiful flowers that glowed blue at night. The monks decided to take some home with them and brew them as a refreshing drink for their journey. It is said that this drink helped keep them awake during their travels so they could continue chanting prayers throughout the night. Today, there are many different types of drinks made using butterfly pea tea including Thai iced coffee!
In Thailand, the name for butterfly pea tea is called “Cham Soot Cha” which translates to "tea of four colors" because it can be seen as yellow (sugar), pink (chili powder), blue-purple (butterfly pea flowers) and green from the pandan leaves. The benefits of this tea are abundant, it has high levels of the amino acid l-theanine, which helps relax your mind and body. This means that it will allow you to focus more on tasks at hand while still feeling calm and relaxed. The health benefits are wide reaching as well with this drink: it is good for those who have anxiety or sleep disorders because high doses can help regulate sleep cycles.  It is also helpful for a number of digestive health concerns, such as irritable bowel syndrome and ulcerative colitis. It can help regulate menstrual cycles because it helps with hormonal balance so women are not feeling anxious or moody.

Another way that this tea can be used is as an ice cream flavour. It would not only taste delicious, but it also gives the same benefits of other teas with less caffeine for those who have sensitivities.
